THE CÆP - Sustainability
Our Commitment
Made with care.
Every single time.
Not a policy. A practice.
Everything we make is shaped by one belief: the things you carry every day deserve to be made with the same intention you bring to wearing them.
"When I started THE CÆP at my kitchen table in Cape Cod, I wasn't thinking about sustainability as a concept. I was thinking about not wasting things. About making something that would last. About knowing where every bead came from, and feeling good about the hands it passed through to get to me.
That's still how we work. Small batches. Real materials. Made slowly, on purpose.
This page isn't a checklist of certifications — we're a small brand, and we're honest about that. But it is a window into how we think, what we choose, and why it matters to us."
— Corinna, Founder
How we make things
Four commitments we keep with every product we put into the world.
Every bead. By hand. In America.
Every beaded strap we make is hand-strung, one bead at a time, right here in the United States. Not outsourced. Not batch-produced by machine. Made slowly, by people who take the time to get it right.
Each piece is individually inspected before it leaves — clasps checked, stitching tested, bead alignment verified. We test wear every new design in-house before it ever reaches you.
This isn't just about quality. It's about knowing exactly what you're getting, and exactly who made it.
We know where every bead comes from.
Our beads travel the world before they reach your wrist. Turkish glass, hand-blown and vibrant. Rare vintage finds sourced from European suppliers. Ethically obtained materials we select one by one — not by the container-load.
We source with heart, which means we'd rather wait for the right bead than rush to fill a gap with something we don't believe in. It takes longer. It costs more. We think it's worth it.
When you buy a CÆP strap, you're wearing materials with a real story behind them.
We only make what's needed.
We don't do overstock. We produce in small batches — which means less waste, less sitting in warehouses, and less ending up in landfill. When something sells out, we take that as a signal to make more of what you love, not to flood the shelves.
Our packaging is minimal and recyclable. We don't believe a beautiful product needs to arrive in a mountain of plastic. What's inside is the gift.
This approach keeps us small and intentional. We wouldn't have it any other way.
Made by partners we're proud of.
Our phone cases, chains, and wallets are produced in Hong Kong by manufacturing partners we have carefully chosen for their commitment to craftsmanship and consistency. We don't work with the cheapest option — we work with the right one.
We're transparent about our production because we believe you deserve to know what you're supporting when you shop with us.
We're not perfect.
We're paying attention.
We're a small, independent brand. We don't have a sustainability team or a B-Corp certification — yet. What we have is a founder who cares deeply, a team that asks questions, and a commitment to getting better every year.
We're actively working on:
- Fully compostable packaging across all product lines
- Carbon-neutral shipping options
- Expanding our US-made range as the brand grows
