Our Story
The founder
When a German visits old Cape Cod…
Corinna Emery didn't plan to start a business during a global pandemic, while living at her in-laws' house, with two toddlers underfoot. But that's exactly what she did — and THE CÆP was born.
"In an impossible year to start a business, she built one anyway."

A pandemic, two toddlers, and an idea that wouldn't wait.
Corinna was born and raised in Germany, with an eye for design and a lifelong love of fashion and aesthetics. She settled into Cape Cod with her husband and two young children just as the world came to a standstill.
The pandemic came with so much unknown. But one thing was clear to her: there had to be a better way to carry your phone. As an active mom with her hands permanently full, the constant dropping, losing, and digging-for-your-phone problem wasn't just annoying — it was relentless.
So she started solving it. By hand, at the kitchen table, one bead at a time.
The beginning
Built from the craziness of an in-laws' home.
THE CÆP started not in a studio or a workshop, but in the beautiful chaos of family life. Corinna designed every product herself, hand-strung every beaded strap, and built the brand from a bedroom office — while managing two toddlers and everything 2020 threw at the world.
What she was creating wasn't just practical. Hands-free phonewear gave her back something that year: the ability to put the phone away without losing it, to be present, to disconnect when it mattered. To focus on what was right in front of her.
THE CÆP was never just a product. It was a solution she needed herself.
One year later
From a bedroom office to a real business.
One year after launching, filled with support from a community that immediately understood what THE CÆP was about, Corinna moved out of that bedroom office and into her first real studio space.
The dream had made it from an idea to a lifestyle — not in spite of the impossible timing, but through it. THE CÆP grew because it was real. A real problem, a real solution, made by real hands.
Today, THE CÆP ships handmade phonewear across the US and beyond — still small-batch, still hand-strung, still built with the same intention as that very first strap.
Every product Corinna designs starts with a real need — something she felt herself, or heard from someone who carries a CÆP every day.
From that first kitchen-table strap to today, everything is still made slowly and carefully — never mass-produced, never rushed.
THE CÆP was made for real life. For full hands, busy days, and the moments when you need your phone close — without it getting in the way.
Wear the brand she built at the kitchen table.
